Focus
I love the acronym for FOCUS – “Follow One Course Until Successful.”
Time management is an illusion. You cannot manage time; it is what it is:
⏳ 86,400 seconds/day
⏳ 1,440 minutes/day
⏳ 24 hours/day
What you can manage is yourself and how you use the time you have. Productivity is less about managing time and more about managing your energy, attention, and focus.
5 Steps to FOCUS
1️⃣ Know what is important – and why.
Understanding the why behind a task adds motivation and helps you stay committed.
2️⃣ Define what “done” looks like.
Clarify both the final result and the small step you need to complete right now.
3️⃣ Protect your time.
Block focus time in your calendar, communicate with your team to avoid interruptions, and set a check-in to ensure you’ve completed your task.
4️⃣ Remove all distractions.
Commit to one task at a time. Stay with it until it is done (as defined above).
5️⃣ Do the work and celebrate success.
Push through challenges, complete the task, and acknowledge your progress. Celebrating even small wins trains your brain to seek out that sense of achievement.
Consistently applying these steps every day will keep you ahead of the game.
