A Different Perspective

With all that is happening in New Zealand at the moment, it can be very easy to look inwards and to batten down the hatches so that you can survive the current times. What this can do though is create a culture where people look inwards and can become selfish and become more concerned about themselves their job security and surviving the current times.

If you want to create a spirit of generosity, one of the most effective ways of doing it is, as a team, to pick a charity that you can support. It is one of the easiest ways to look outwards and see different people’s perspectives and realize how privileged you are in the position that you're at.  This will allow you to not only contribute financially but also you can give time.  BNZ does this very well with their The Good Shop program and many organizations will pick a charity or two where people will go and volunteer time as well as resources.

What could you do to create generosity as a spirit in your organization and to help people look beyond themselves; not just in terms of service and sales, but also in terms of the privileged position that they have and how they can help improve the communities that they live in and the country that we all get to call home.
